Man who injected heroin in a man’s face ‘didn’t have a clue’

A man who injected drugs in the face of a man who thought he was injecting heroin has been jailed for six years.

The court heard how the man, from Longford, Co Galway, injected heroin into the man’s cheek before injecting the drug in his head.

The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying heroin to a person under the age of 16.

Judge Paul Fitzgerald jailed the 54-year-old for six months at Dublin’s Leinster Circuit Criminal Court.

The drugs, a range of painkillers, were found in the victim’s room at the property in Longford.

The victim was told that the defendant had injected heroin and heroin pills into his face before injecting his victim with the drugs.

He did not recognise the defendant and was unaware that he had injected drugs into his cheek, Judge Fitzgerald said.

The sentencing was adjourned until March 14.
